Rookie Blue

Rookie Blue follows a bunch of rookie cops as they learn what it means to truly be police officers. Episode one is literally their first day on the job, where they talk about how no matter how well trained they are, they don’t know what it’s like to actually be on the job.

I found myself really liking this show. A cop show that only marginally involved figuring out a mystery and mostly revolved around the actual characters handling their first day. It feels like there’s a lot to learn about the characters and we’ve barely even scratched the surface, yet they managed–without multiple explosions, Trauma take note–to grab my attention. And no on screen shots fired even.

I’m excited to see how they run each episode, whether it will fall back on standard cop show storyline or if it will continue to be interesting and unique. You never really think about the fact that at one point, at least, cops are new and don’t know what they’re doing. Is it a good idea for someone like that to have a gun?

I’m reminded again why I love Missy Peregrym. And I a little bit want to go back and watch stick it. She has such an expressive face! I’m glad she’s the character we’re following.
